Switching Systems (switching + system)
Kinds of Switching Systems Selected AbstractsStability of Linear Parameter Varying and Linear Switching SystemsPROCEEDINGS IN APPLIED MATHEMATICS & MECHANICS, Issue 1 2003Fabian Wirth We consider stability of families of linear time-varying systems, that are determined by a set of time-varying parameters which adhere to certain rules. The conditions are general enough to encompass on the one hand stability questions for systems that are frequently called linear parameter varying systems in the literature and on the other hand also linear switching systems, in which parameter variations are allowed to have discontinuities. Combinations of these two sets of assumptions are also possible within the framework studied here. Under the assumption of irreducibility of the sets of system matrices, we show how to construct parameter dependent Lyapunov functions for the systems under consideration that exactly characterize the exponential growth rate. It is clear that such Lyapunov functions do not exist in general. But every system of our class can be reduced to a finite number of subsystems for which irreducibility holds. This platform is based on CORBA, which can enhance software productivity and system scalability and is thus widely used in the information technology field. Conditions and requirements specific to switching systems, such as very high-performance and non-stop operation, are analysed and mapped to the main elements of CORBA. How to deploy and bind objects so as to minimize the processing load is clarified. Mechanisms that guarantee system reliability (saving calls in service when a system failure occurs and avoiding the spread of faults) are also presented. Evaluation of the number of dynamic program steps for systems using fully compliant CORBA, improved CORBA, and a proprietary high-speed object-request broker (ORB) shows that constructing a communication switching system by using the high-speed ORB approach is sufficient, but CORBA-compliant approaches should be used to provide an interoperable interface for communicating with external compliant systems. Dintinger Enhanced molecular absorption of dyes in the visible range, mediated by surface plasmon excitations on metallic hole arrays, is reported. The combination of these structures with a photochromic cover layer can be used to create an all-optical switching system, essential for the development of active plasmonic devices. The figure shows transmission images of the coated hole array before (left) and after (right) UV irradiation. [source] Observer-based stabilization of linear switching systemsINTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ROBUST AND NONLINEAR CONTROL, Issue 14 2009Paolo Caravani Abstract The discrete component of the hybrid state of a discrete-time linear switching system is assumed to be uncontrolled and unobserved. Conditions of stabilizability for this class of systems are given in terms of a new definition of control invariance, based on the realization of a discrete observer that permits reconstruction of the discrete-state in certain intervals of the time basis. This paper highlights the relationship between the minimum dwell time of the system and its stabilizability. An almost complete characterization of stabilizability is offered in terms of certain subsets of the continuous-state space. These sets are amenable to tractable parametric procedures for controller synthesis. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. [source] P/Pd Types Of Override Control SystemsASIAN JOURNAL OF CONTROL, Issue 4 2002Yaw-Ying Tsai ABSTRACT The override control provides protective action against abnormal operation and/or incipient process failure. In terms of control theory, it is a logic-based switching system and, in terms of operation, it is usually activated between the soft constraint and the hard constraint. It is used in all process industries, and most PID control loops are patched with some type of override system. Despite widespread application, little research has been done to analyze override control systems. In this work, the properties of the override control are explored. The stability of the override control is also studied. Counter to intuition, many well-known override systems may exhibit instability and lead to oscillatory responses as the process approaches constraints. Approaches are proposed for the design of override control systems to ensure inherent safe operation. Osadchiy Abstract Coherent detection for spectrally encoded optical labels is proposed and experimentally demonstrated for three label tones spectrally spaced at 1 GHz. The proposed method utilizes a frequency swept local oscillator in a coherent receiver supported by digital signal processing for improved flexibility and upgradeability while reducing label detection subsystem complexity as compared with the conventional optical autocorrelation based approaches. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. [source] Delay-dependent robust stabilization for uncertain stochastic switching systems with distributed delays,ASIAN JOURNAL OF CONTROL, Issue 5 2009Hao Shen Abstract This paper deals with the problem of robust stabilization for a class of uncertain stochastic switching systems with distributed delays. The purpose is to design a memory controller, which guarantees that the resulting closed-loop system is mean-square asymptotically stable. In terms of a set of linear matrix inequalities, a delay-dependent condition is proposed and a robust memory controller is designed. Two numerical examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley and Sons Asia Pte Ltd and Chinese Automatic Control Society [source] |
