Radical Addition (radical + addition)
Selected AbstractsRadical Addition of Ethers to Terminal Alkynes with High E -SelectivityEUROPEAN JOURNAL OF ORGANIC CHEMISTRY, Issue 30 2009Zili Chen Abstract Direct radical additions of ethers to terminal alkynes were investigated by using Me2Zn/O2 as radical initiator to afford 2-vinyl ether derivatives with high E -selectivity, while reversed E/Z selectivity is obtained with Et3B/O2. Two competitive pathways are suggested for the formation of vinyl radical B: zinc-radical exchange (route a) followed by protonation provides E -configuration products exclusively through Zn(II) complexation. Hydrogen abstraction by vinyl radicals (route b) yields mainly Z isomers.(© Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Díaz-Álvarez Abstract The dinuclear complexes [{RuCl2(,6 - p -cymene)}2(,-THDP)] (4) and [{MCl(,4 -cod)}2(,-THDP)] [M = Rh (5), Ir (6)], containing the bridging cage-type ligand tris(1,2-dimethylhydrazino)diphosphane (THDP), have been synthesized in high yields (89,95,%) by treatment of dimers [{RuCl(,-Cl)(,6 - p -cymene)}2] (1) and [{M(,-Cl)(,4 -cod)}2] [M = Rh (2), Ir (3)] with one equivalent of THDP. The structure of the (,6 -arene)ruthenium(II) derivative 4 has been unequivocally confirmed by means of X-ray diffraction methods. All these complexes have been found to be active catalysts for the atom-transfer radical addition of bromotrichloromethane to olefins (Kharasch reaction) in heterogeneous aqueous media under mild conditions (room temp.).(© Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Prishchenko Nucleophilic or radical addition of esters of trivalent organophosphorus acids with PH fragments to various imines and enamines is proposed as convenient methods for the synthesis of new substituted aminomethyl organophosphorus compounds with three-, four-, and five-coordinated phosphorus. Also the new functionalized derivatives of these compounds with acyl and methanesulfonyl moieties are synthesized, and some properties of the obtained compounds are presented. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
