Polystyrene-Supported Amino Acids as Efficient Catalyst for Chemical Fixation of Carbon Dioxide

ADVANCED SYNTHESIS & CATALYSIS (PREVIOUSLY: JOURNAL FUER PRAKTISCHE CHEMIE), Issue 11-12 2010
    Chaorong Qi
Abstract Four new polystyrene-supported amino acids have been synthesized and applied to the chemical fixation of carbon dioxide for the first time. Two series of experiments with polystyrene-supported threonine (PS-Thr) and polystyrene-supported tyrosine (PS-Tyr) as catalyst, respectively, were conducted to study the effect of the reaction conditions on the carboxylation of propylene oxide/carbon dioxide. There was no considerable decrease in the yield of propylene carbonate after the polystyrene-supported amino acids were used five times, indicating that these catalysts are very stable. It was demonstrated that these catalysts were very efficient in the carboxylation of various epoxides and aziridines with carbon dioxide under mild conditions without any solvents. The mechanism for this carboxylation is also discussed. [source]

Cyclopalladated Ferrocenylimine as Efficient Catalyst for the Syntheses of Arylboronate Esters

ADVANCED SYNTHESIS & CATALYSIS (PREVIOUSLY: JOURNAL FUER PRAKTISCHE CHEMIE), Issue 11-12 2010
    Lianhui Wang
Abstract The cyclopalladated ferrocenylimine I and its phosphine adducts IIa,f were prepared and evaluated in the borylation of aryl halides. The tricyclohexylphosphine adduct IIb exhibited highly catalytic activity for the coupling of aryl and heteroaryl bromides containing various functional groups with low catalyst loading (2,mol%). Aryl and heteroaryl chlorides were smoothly converted into the corresponding boronates in the presence of the monophosphinobiaryl ligand (XPhos) adduct IIf. It was proposed that palladacycle was only a reservoir of the catalytically active species from the investigation on the reaction mechanism. [source]

Supported Sulfonic Acid as Green and Efficient Catalyst for Baeyer,Villiger Oxidation with 30% Aqueous Hydrogen Peroxide

ADVANCED SYNTHESIS & CATALYSIS (PREVIOUSLY: JOURNAL FUER PRAKTISCHE CHEMIE), Issue 10 2010
    Calogero
Abstract Silica-supported propylsulfonic acid is a very good heterogeneous catalyst for the Baeyer,Villiger oxidation of cyclic ketones to lactones with stoichiometric 30% aqueous hydrogen peroxide in 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-propanol as solvent. [source]

Diethylzinc: A Simple and Efficient Catalyst for the Swift Hydroamination at Room Temperature

ADVANCED SYNTHESIS & CATALYSIS (PREVIOUSLY: JOURNAL FUER PRAKTISCHE CHEMIE), Issue 13 2009
    Jens-Wolfgang Pissarek
Abstract Diethylzinc and dimethylanilinium tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)borate were found to catalyze hydroaminations at room temperature in high efficiency and very short reaction times. The reactivity of the proposed cationic zinc species, which is assumed to catalyze the reaction, strongly depends on the coordinative abilities of the counterion. [source]

A Novel Microencapsulated Osmium Catalyst Using Cross-Linked Polystyrene as an Efficient Catalyst for Asymmetric Dihydroxylation of Olefins in Water

ADVANCED SYNTHESIS & CATALYSIS (PREVIOUSLY: JOURNAL FUER PRAKTISCHE CHEMIE), Issue 9 2005
    Tasuku Ishida
Abstract A novel microencapsulated osmium catalyst (PSresin-MC Os) was developed using cross-linked polystyrene. The concept of this method may go beyond that of microencapsulation. The catalyst was successfully used in asymmetric dihydroxylation in water, and it was recovered quantitatively by simple filtration and reused several times without loss of activity. The shape of the catalyst was maintained even after several uses. Moreover, no leaching of the Os component was detected. [source]
