Dyad Type (dyad + type)
Selected AbstractsAntagonists in Mutual Antipathies: A Person-Oriented ApproachJOURNAL OF RESEARCH ON ADOLESCENCE, Issue 1 2009Berna Güro This study investigated the heterogeneity of mutual antipathy relationships. Separate cluster analyses of peer interactions of early adolescents (mean age 11 years) and adolescents (mean age of 14) yielded 3 types of individuals in each age group, namely Prosocial, Antisocial, and Withdrawn. Prevalence analysis of the 6 possible combinations of types of individuals constituting mutual antipathy dyads yielded antipathy dyad types. The majority of these dyads consisted of a combination of 2 dissimilar types of individuals. Implications of the high prevalence of the Antisocial,Withdrawn antipathy dyad type are discussed. [source] Interactional Input and The Incorporation of Feedback: An Exploration of NS,NNS and NNS,NNS Adult and Child DyadsLANGUAGE LEARNING, Issue 1 2003Alison Mackey Given the documented benefits of participation in communicative interaction (e.g., Gass & varonis, 1994; Mackey, 1999), the present study investigated the effects of interlocutor type on the provision and incorporation of feedback in task, based interaction. The interactions of 48 dyads, evenly divided among adults and children, and native speaker, nonnative speaker and nonnative speaker, native speaker, were analyzed to assess the effect of interlocutor on (1) amount of feedback, (2) opportunities for modified output, and (3) immediate incorporation of feedback. In all dyed types, at least 30% of errors resulted in feedback, much of which led to modified output. Analyses also revealed significant differences for amount, nature, and response to feedback according to dyad type. [source] Parenting and Adolescents' Accuracy in Perceiving Parental ValuesCHILD DEVELOPMENT, Issue 2 2003Ariel Knafo What determines adolescents' accuracy in perceiving parental values? The current study examined potential predictors including parental value communication, family value agreement, and parenting styles. In the study, 547 Israeli adolescents (aged 16 to 18) of diverse socioeconomic backgrounds participated with their parents. Adolescents reported the values they perceive their parents want them to hold. Parents reported their socialization values. Accuracy in perceiving parents' overall value system correlated positively with parents' actual and perceived value agreement and perceived parental warmth and responsiveness, but negatively with perceived value conflict, indifferent parenting, and autocratic parenting in all gender compositions of parent, child dyads. Other associations varied by dyad type. Findings were similar for predicting accuracy in perceiving two specific values: tradition and hedonism. The article discusses implications for the processes that underlie accurate perception, gender differences, and other potential influences on accuracy in value perception.
