Dual Tuning of Emission Color and Electron Injection Properties Through in-situ Chemical Reaction in a Conjugated Polymer Containing 9,10-Phenanthrenequinone

MACROMOLECULAR CHEMISTRY AND PHYSICS, Issue 23 2009
Zhiming Wang
Abstract Three new polymers were obtained through an in situ chemical reaction of the matrix conjugated polymer (PPQF) with ortho- amine compounds. By controlling the conjugation degree of diamine compounds, the emission of PPQF was tuned from weak blue to bright blue, green, and orange for PFBQ, PFBP and PFNP, respectively. The photoluminescence efficiencies were also improved in the same tendency, and the LUMO levels were gradually decreased from ,2.76 and ,3.12 to ,3.40,eV, which was beneficial for electron injection and transport in electronic devices. Thus, a dual tuning for the emission color and electron injection properties were realized through an in situ chemical reaction, which is a novel strategy to design and construct new valuable polymers from one reactive matrix polymer. Linear Azo Polymer Containing Conjugated 5,5,-Azodisalicylic Acid Segments in the Main Chain: Synthesis, Characterization, and Degradation

MACROMOLECULAR RAPID COMMUNICATIONS, Issue 19 2005
Junying Lai
Abstract Summary: Copolymers of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and 5,5,-azodisalicylic acid (Olsalazine, OLZ) were synthesized and evaluated by hydrolysis and in-vitro biodegradation with azoreductase. It was found that changing the molecular weight of the PEO blocks affected the loading ratio of OLZ, and resulted in significant differences in the hydration and degradability of the copolymers. These novel azo-containing copolymers can be used in colon-specific drug delivery. Release of 5-ASA from OLZ and PEO-OLZ copolymers incubated with rat cecum content in the presence of benzyl viologen and , - D -glucose. [source]

New , -Conjugated Polymers Containing 1,3,5-Triazine Units in the Main Chain: Synthesis and Optical and Electrochemical Properties of the Polymers,

MACROMOLECULAR RAPID COMMUNICATIONS, Issue 12 2005
Shijie Ren
Abstract Summary: Three new soluble , -conjugated polymers containing 1,3,5-triazine units in the main chain, Pa,Pc, were synthesized. The polymers showed optical properties in solution that were mainly dependant on the properties of the substituting R groups, on the triazine ring. Hence, Pa and Pb (R,=,H and OCH3, respectively) showed blue photoluminescent (PL) emission with high quantum yields (QY) even in polar solvents, whereas Pc (R,=,N,N -dimethylamino) gave green-blue PL emission with very low QY. The PL spectra of the polymers in solution were concentration and polarity dependent, which suggested the formation of an exciplex. The three new soluble , -conjugated polymers containing 1,3,5-triazine units in the main chain synthesized here. [source]

Preparation of bimodal porous copolymer containing ,-cyclodextrin and its inclusion adsorption behavior

JOURNAL OF APPLIED POLYMER SCIENCE, Issue 4 2010
Zhao-Yang Sun
Abstract A novel insoluble bimodal porous polymer containing ,-cyclodextrin (,-CD) was prepared to adsorb aromatic amine compound. The process involved copolymerization of styrene and methyl methacrylate with a maleic acid derivative of ,-CD, subsequently, above formed copolymer was foamed by supercritical CO2. The chemical properties and physical structure of obtained copolymer was analyzed using Fourier transform infrared spectra, Thermal gravimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, and N2 adsorption techniques. The inclusion adsorption of aromatic amine compounds on ,-CD copolymer was carried out in a batch system. The quantities of aromatic amine compounds adsorbed on ,-CD copolymer reached equilibrium within 60 min. The adsorption kinetic could be fitted to a pseudo-second-order kinetic equation, and the linear correlation coefficients varied from 0.9828 to 0.9935. With the influence of molecular structure and hydrophobicity of the aromatic amine compound, the sequence of quantity of aromatic amine compounds adsorbed on ,-CD copolymer is p -toluidine > aniline > benzidine > o -toluidine. The adsorption equilibrium data of aromatic amine compound adsorbed on ,-CD copolymer were fitted to Freundlich and Langmuir models, respectively. The linear correlation coefficients of Langmuir model varied from 0.9516 to 0.9940, and the linear correlation coefficients of Freundlich varied from 0.9752 to 0.9976. It is concluded that Freundlich model fits better than Langmuir model, because the adsorption of aromatic amine compound on ,-CD copolymer is a chemical process. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Synthesis and magnetic properties of novel fully conjugated polymeric complexes containing 1,10-phenanthroline

JOURNAL OF APPLIED POLYMER SCIENCE, Issue 4 2008
Renhua Zheng
Abstract A novel fully conjugated polymer containing 1,10-phenanthroline (DAPcDOD) was first synthesized by the polycondensation of 2,7-dimethyl-2,4,6-octatriene-1,8-dial with 5,6-diamine-1,10-phenanthroline. Three polymeric complexes were first prepared by the reaction of DAPcDOD with NiSO4, CoCl2, and FeSO4, respectively. The structures of the polymer and the complexes were characterized by IR, 1H-NMR, and elemental analysis. The magnetic behaviors of these complexes were measured as a function of magnetic field strength (0,50 kOe) at 5 K and as a function of temperature (5,300 K) at a magnetic field strength of 30 kOe. The results show that DAPcDOD,Ni2+ and DAPcDOD,Co2+ were soft ferromagnets, whereas DAPcDOD,Fe2+ exhibited the features of an antiferromagnet. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A one-dimensional nickel(II) coordination polymer containing 2,6-dipicolinate and dipyrido[3,2- a:2,,3,- c]phenazine

ACTA CRYSTALLOGRAPHICA SECTION C, Issue 12 2007
Yi Ma
A new coordination polymer, catena -poly[[(dipyrido[3,2- a:2,,3,- c]phenazine-,2N,N,)nickel(II)]-,-2,6-dipicolinato-,4O2,N,O6:O2,], [Ni(C7H3NO4)(C18H10N4)]n, exhibits a one-dimensional structure in which 2,6-dipicolinate acts as a bridging ligand interconnecting adjacent nickel(II) centers to form a chain structure. The asymmetric unit contains one NiII center, one dipyrido[3,2- a:2,,3,- c]phenazine ligand and one 2,6-dipicolinate ligand. Each NiII center is six-coordinated and surrounded by three N atoms and three O atoms from one dipyrido[3,2- a:2,,3,- c]phenazine ligand and two different 2,6-dipicolinate ligands, leading to a distorted octahedral geometry. Adjacent chains are linked by ,,, stacking interactions and weak interactions to form a three-dimensional supramolecular network. [source]
