Hosseini Abstract A compact ring Branch-Line Coupler (BLC) with size reduction of about 50%(in circuit area) of conventional BLCs at frequency 2 GHz is introduced. The coupler is designed by using nonuniform transmission lines (NTL) instead of Uniform Transmission Lines in each arm. The normalized width w (z)/h function of the NTLs is expanded in a truncated Fourier series. The reduced size couplers are potential building blocks for the growing wireless communication markets. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We have discussed the possible growth mechanism of SiOx nanowires, in regard to the role of Au catalyst. For a comparison study between uncoated and coated nanowires, samples were characterized by X-ray dif- fraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL). This method can be applied to a wide range of materials and results in various heterostructures, which may serve as potential building blocks in various nanodevices. The reduction is highly diastereoselective, leading exclusively to endo -acyloins (endo -hydroxyl groups) in excellent yields, and tolerates a variety of sensitive substituents, such as acetate, ester, and bridgehead halogens. The regioselectivity in the reductions of monosubstituted ,-diketones varied from 70:30 to 100:0 for the two possible isomeric alcohols. The methodology is extended to the synthesis of highly functionalized cyclopentane carboxaldehydes, potential building blocks in organic syntheses, by cleavage of the acyloins by treating them with Pb(OAc)4 in MeOH/PhH. Allylindium additions to carboxaldehydes 22 have been found to be highly diastereoselective. [source] |
