Selected AbstractsRobust ,, filtering for uncertain differential linear repetitive processesINTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ADAPTIVE CONTROL AND SIGNAL PROCESSING, Issue 3 2008Ligang Wu Abstract The unique characteristic of a repetitive process is a series of sweeps or passes through a set of dynamics defined over a finite duration known as the pass length. At the end of each pass, the process is reset and the next time through the output, or pass profile, produced on the previous pass acts as a forcing function on, and hence contributes to, the dynamics of the new pass profile. They are hence a class of systems where a variable must be expressed in terms of two directions of information propagation (from pass-to-pass and along a pass, respectively) where the dynamics over the finite pass length are described by a matrix linear differential equation and from pass to pass by a discrete updating structure. This means that filtering/estimation theory/algorithms for, in particular, 2D discrete linear systems is not applicable. In this paper, we solve a general robust filtering problem with a view towards use in many applications where such an action will be required. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. Galkowski Abstract Discrete linear repetitive processes are a distinct class of 2D linear systems with applications in areas ranging from long-wall coal cutting through to iterative learning control schemes. The main feature which makes them distinct from other classes of 2D linear systems is that information propagation in one of the two independent directions only occurs over a finite duration. This, in turn, means that a distinct systems theory must be developed for them. In this paper, the major new development is that an LMI based re-formulation of the stability conditions can used to enable the design of a family of control laws which have a well defined physical basis. [source] LMI based stability and stabilization of second-order linear repetitive processes,ASIAN JOURNAL OF CONTROL, Issue 2 2010Pawel Dabkowski Abstract This paper develops new results on the stability and control of a class of linear repetitive processes described by a second-order matrix discrete or differential equation. These are developed by transformation of the second-order dynamics to those of an equivalent first-order descriptor state-space model, thus avoiding the need to invert a possibly ill-conditioned leading coefficient matrix in the original model.
