ADVANCED SYNTHESIS & CATALYSIS (PREVIOUSLY: JOURNAL FUER PRAKTISCHE CHEMIE), Issue 7 2007
Yongcan Wang
Abstract A novel Clasisen,Schmidt condensation-epoxidation sequence of aldehydes and ketones was developed to produce a series of chiral ,,, -epoxy ketones under asymmetric phase-transfer catalytic conditions. The organocatalytic method reported here can afford chiral ,,, -epoxy ketones under mild conditions with moderate to good yields and up to 96,% ee. [source]

A Convenient Preparation of Enantiomerically Pure (+)-(1R,2R)- and (,)-(1S,2S)-1,2-Diamino-1,2-diphenylethanes

ADVANCED SYNTHESIS & CATALYSIS (PREVIOUSLY: JOURNAL FUER PRAKTISCHE CHEMIE), Issue 7-8 2006
Christopher Braddock
Abstract A gram-scale preparation of (1S,2S)- and (1R,2R)-1,2-diamino-1,2-diphenylethanes, (1S,2S)- 1 and (1R,2R)- 1, is reported via (±)- iso -amarine 4. Strategically, the activation of (±)- iso -amarine 4 for hydrolysis to the required diamines and enantiomeric resolution is achieved simultaneously by formation of two separable diastereoisomeric N -acylamidines 5 and 6 derived from direct DCC-mediated coupling of (±)- iso -amarine 4 with (R)-acetylmandelic acid. iso -Amarine 4 is conveniently obtained from amarine 3, and a one-pot synthesis of the latter is reported from benzaldehyde and hexamethyldisilazane as catalysed by benzoic acid. The first general synthesis of 3-iodo-4- R -furazans

HETEROATOM CHEMISTRY, Issue 3 2004
Aleksei B. Sheremetev
The first general synthetic route has been developed for the convenient preparation of iodofurazans. The approach was accomplished by one-pot diazotization-iodation reaction of appropriate aminofurazans. A combination of sodium nitrite and iodine in organic solvent under anhydrous conditions as the reaction conditions allowed to solve problem in iodofurazans preparation. The investigation of the substituent's influence on NMR data of the iodofurazans has been carried out. The X-ray crystal structure of the 3-amino-4-iodofurazan 1d is reported. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Efficient and convenient preparation of water-soluble fullerenol,

CHINESE JOURNAL OF CHEMISTRY, Issue 9 2004
Jian-Min Zhang
Abstract An efficient and convenient preparation of fullerenols was described. With polyethylene glycol (PEG) 400 as catalyst, fullerenols were conveniently synthesized via the direct reaction of fullerene with aqueous NaOH. By control of reaction conditions, either water-soluble C, fullerenol or water-insoluble C60 fullerenol could be obtained selectively. [source]
