Solution-Processed Solid Solution of a Novel Carbazole Derivative for High-Performance Blue Phosphorescent Organic Light-Emitting Diodes

ADVANCED MATERIALS, Issue 37 2010
Shanghui Ye
Blue light: Incorporation of two fluorenyl rings into a phenyl group at the C9 position of fluorene builds a bulky and rigidly tetrahedral framework, which is functionalized by two carbazole groups. This molecule possesses excellent thermal and morphological stability, miscibility to the phosphorescent dopant, and high triplet energy, leading to narrow blue phosphorescent emission. [source]

New synthesis of highly potential efficient bluish-green electroluminescent materials based on 1,3,4-oxadiazole,triazolopyridinone,carbazole derivatives for single-layer devices

HETEROATOM CHEMISTRY, Issue 2 2006
Ming-Hsiang Shin
New potential bluish-green electroluminescent materials of 1,3,4-oxadiazole,triazolopyridin- one, carbazole derivatives were synthesized and characterized for single-layer devices. Carbazole, pyridine, and triazolopyridinone were completely introduced into 1,3,4-oxadiazole skeletal to play assistant roles in controlling fundamental photolytic process due to the electron-donating nature, excellent photoconductivity, and flexible structure properties. Following the spectroscopic studies and the measurements of cyclic voltammogram, 1,3,4-oxadiazole,triazolopyridinone,carbazole derivatives were highly efficient bluish-green electroluminescent materials. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Anti-HIV-1 constituents from Clausena excavata: Part II. carbazoles and a pyranocoumarin

PHYTOTHERAPY RESEARCH, Issue 8 2005
Boonsong Kongkathip
Abstract Three carbazole derivatives, O -methylmukonal (1), 3-formyl-2,7-dimethoxycarbazole (2) and clauszoline J (3), and a pyranocoumarin, clausenidin (4), were isolated from the rhizomes and roots of Clausena excavata. Compound 1, isolated from this plant for the first time, has not been reported previously as having anti-HIV-1 activity. Compounds 1,4 displayed anti-HIV-1 activity in a syncytial assay with EC50 values of 12, 29.1, 34.2 and 5.3 µm, respectively, and thus exhibited potential therapeutic index (PTI) values of 56.7, 8.0, 1.6 and 7.0, respectively. All isolated compounds demonstrated a lack of cytotoxicity against the KB and BC-1 cancer cell lines. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. [source]
